No matter what brand of transformer you own POWER TECH can repair or service it. Transformers like any other piece of equipment needs a regular preventive maintenance service. Power outages resulting from transformer failure can be costly. Transformer failure due to a build up explosive gases can be Deadly. Don't let your expensive electrical equipment deteriorate because of neglect. Problems can be found and fixed with regular inspection and servicing. Below is a summary of what POWER TECH can do for you.

 Transformers - Liquid Filled:

A. Visual and Mechanical Inspection

Inspect for physical damage. Inspect impact recorder prior to unloading transformer if applicable.
Compare equipment nameplate information with latest single line diagram.
Verify proper auxiliary device operation such as fans, pumps, sudden pressure device, indicators, tap changer, and gas pressurization system.
Check tightness of external bolts.
Check all liquid in tank and bushings for proper level.
Perform specific inspection and mechanical tests as recommended by manufacturer.

B. Electrical Test

Insulation resistance tests shall be performed winding to winding and winding to ground. Appropriate guard circuit shall be utilized over all bushings.
A dielectric absorption test shall be made winding to winding and winding to ground. The polarization index shall be computed.
A turns ratio test shall be performed between windings for all tap positions. The final tap setting is to be determined by customer.
Insulating oil testing.
Insulation power factor test shall be made on all high and voltage windings and bushings. Overall dielectric loss and power factor (CH, CL, CHL) shall be determined. Underground specimen tests (UST) shall be made on all bushings equipped with power factor (lex) or capacitance taps.
(Optional) Individual exciting current tests shall be performed on each phase in accordance with established procedures.
Measure dew point and oxygen content of top gas when applicable.
Perform special tests and adjustments as suggested by manufacturer on tap changer, fan and pump control and alarm function.

Transformers - Dry Type:

A. Visual and Mechanical Inspection

Inspect for physical damage.
Compare equipment nameplate information with latest single line diagram.
Verify proper auxiliary device operation such as fans, indicators and tap changer.
Check tightness of accessible bolted electrical joints.

Insulation power factor test shall be made from each winding to winding to each other winding and from each winding to ground.
(Optional) Individual exciting current tests shall be performed on each phase in accordance with established procedures.
Perform special tests and adjustments as suggested by manufacturer on tap changer, fan and pump control and alarm function.
